I've been talking a lot about getting kids to exercise, because that's my thing.
But I haven't told you a little secret... the best way to get kids to exercise is to.... DO IT WITH THEM! :D
This is accredited to that whole "be an example" thing and besides... working out alone is boring.
If you're unable to make it to my family class on Mondays at 6:45pm... Here are some workout ideas for kid friendly, adult friendly, sweat friendly workouts to try at home:
Of course we always do our resets first; head nods, rolling, rocking, ect...
Then...
100 jumping jacks competition (Good jumping jacks: touch your sides, clap your hands at the top, and jump every time! or you're disqualified. Winner decides next thing is always a bonus)
Next...
Mountain of squats and pushups. ( 1 squat/1 pushup, 2 squats/2pushups, 3squats/3squats, ect...) for 5min or up to a certain number
last...
My favorite is going on a walk, pick a mailbox or a tree and race, then walk, then race again. Sprinting is great for you and racing makes it more fun.
Really anything active is fun and tweaking everyday exercises or games to be fun movements is easy. Grab a kid (preferably one you're in charge of ;)) and go "workout".
